Robert Irwin, the 21-year-old son of the legendary conservationist Steve Irwin, has just been crowned winner of Dancing with the Stars — a full decade after his sister Bindi claimed the same title. Paired with pro dancer Jenna Johnson, Robert dazzled audiences over 11 weeks with high-energy routines, including a heartfelt tribute to his father and a surprise cameo from Bindi. The finale even featured an Aussie flavour with a dance to Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl?”

As an astrologer, the challenge was to discover why he is such an accomplished dancer and why the recognition (the crown) came exactly now. Using Vedic astrology and his A-rated Astrodatabank chart, the cosmic story becomes clear.

The 3rd house — ruling self-effort, courage, and talent — hosts the artistic Moon alongside 5th lord Mars (energy + intellect) in the Rāśi chart. This powerful Moon–Mars combination in 3rd House repeats in Navāmnsa , where the 3rd lord Saturn joins the Moon, giving amplified creative and performance prowess. Lagna is Vargottama, supercharging the Ascendant. Lagna lord Jupiter in the 9th forms dual Rājayogas with Mars and the famed Gajakeśarī Yoga with Moon — bestowing fame, fortune, and public adoration.

Still, what is truly special that made him this year’s champion? The answer lies in his Moon, the primary significator of arts, placed in the 3rd house of talent. It is a bright Śukla Pakṣa Aṣṭamī Moon (more than 50% illuminated), praised in the classics, and receives the full aspect of Lagna lord Jupiter. Lagna is not only Vargottama but under the aspect of Lagna Lord Jupiter made the Lagna very strong.  Jātakadeśamārga (Chapter 8, Śloka 14) states that in a day birth, if the Moon occupies its own Navāṁśa or the Navāṁśa of its friends Sun or Mercury and is aspected by Jupiter (or by Venus in a night birth), the native becomes wealthy and joyful. Here, the Moon occupies Jupiter’s  Navāṁśa; the Moon treats Jupiter as neutral, but Jupiter treats the Moon as a friend. Moreover, Moon and Jupiter form Gajakeśarī Yoga (3–11 axis in Navāṁśa), making the native illustrious, wealthy, intelligent, scholarly, and enjoying lasting fame.

Why the award now?

He is running Vimśottarī daśā Saturn–Saturn–Venus. Saturn, the 3rd lord, is strongly placed in the 7th with directional strength, aspected by 10th lord Mercury and 11th lord Venus. The pratyantardaśā lord Venus (11th lord of awards and fulfilment of desires) is conjunct 10th lord Mercury (honour). In D-9, Saturn (mahādaśā and antardaśā lord) is 3rd lord with Moon (arts) in the 4th, aspecting the 10th house of honour, while pratyantardaśā lord Venus is 11th lord of awards.

Since Lagna is Vargottama, Śhatābdikā daśā is also applicable (to know more about Śhatābdikā daśā please read the EST December issue page 35). In Śhatābdikā daśā (from 19 May 2025) he is under Jupiter–Mercury–Saturn. Jupiter (mahādaśā lord and Lagna lord) in the 9th aspects the 3rd house of talent under multiple Rajyogas.

Antardaśā lord Mercury (honour) is well placed in Lagna with directional strength, conjunct 11th lord Venus (awards). Pratyantardaśā lord Saturn (3rd lord, performance) in the 7th receives the aspect of Mercury[10th Lord] and Venus [11th Lord]. In D-9, Jupiter is well-placed in the 11th (awards); Mercury in the 6th (competition) forms Rājayoga by aspect with the Sun (9th lord); and Saturn (3rd lord) again aspects the 10th house of honour.

Everything — talent, timing, public love, and the glittering crown — unfolded exactly as written in the stars.

Conclusion

Robert Irwin’s 2025 Dancing with the Stars victory is not mere coincidence; it is the precise fruition of multiple converging astrological factors written at birth and perfectly timed by the daśās. A luminous Śukla Pakṣa Aṣṭamī Moon placed in the 3rd house of performing arts, fortified by 5th lord Mars in Rāśi and 3rd lord Saturn in Navāṁśa, strengthened further by Gajakeśarī Yoga and the near-exact activation of Jātakadeśamārga Chapter 8, Śloka 14, gave him rare, inborn mastery over rhythm, emotion, and audience connection. The Vimśottarī Saturn–Saturn–Venus period (3rd lord activating talent + 11th lord of awards conjunct 10th lord of honour on the 1–7 public axis) and the simultaneous Śhatābdikā Jupiter–Mercury–Saturn sequence (Lagna lord → honour → performance) lit up the same houses and planets from two different daśā systems, creating an unmistakable cosmic green light for nationwide recognition and the glittering crown.

Talent was promised on 1 December 2003. The universe delivered the trophy exactly when the stars said it would — in November 2025. The mirror-ball now reflects not just lights, but the flawless timing of Vedic astrology.
